Why does any girl (especially somewhat tall to tall girls) insist on wearing heels?

I saw a picture of my friend Allison with some heelage on her heels just recently. She’s not tall tall, but she’s a good few inches taller than me (as is everyone else in the world, as proven in my AP Stat class in 10th grade…seriously). So it got me to thinking: why do tall girls still insist on wearing pretty darn tall heels?
I mean I understand that girls do like their shoes and such, and I don’t mind them wearing some heelage at all. But when I see a 5’8″ – 5’10″ girl wearing 2 inch heels I really wonder why they feel they need to dwarf other people more than they already do. Is it considered chic to be tall?
I’m a little confused… because here’s why:
- Time and time and time and time again the one thing girls seem to mention about what they look for in a guy is not even necessarily facial looks at first but simply height. Simply put the guy MUST be taller than the girl.
- With that in mind, let’s say that a girl is 5’6″ and a guy is 5’7″. The girl proceeds to wear 1.5″ heels and is now taller than the guy. Assuming that girl places height highest on the priority ladder, does the girl automatically discount him? Or does the girl take into fact that she’s not REALLY taller than the guy? What if true love is bypassed forever simply because of this artificial height?!?!?
OK, bland humor aside, seriously. I can understand 0.5″. Maybe even 1″. But 1.5″+???? I mean, walking in those things must be difficult as hell sober, especially on some crappy sidewalk with lots of cracks (I’m sure stepping on one will really make you crack your back). And then when you’re drunk?! Geeez.
But seriously, I’d like to know why you wear high heels? Tell me your reasons. Make me understand. Haha.

The answer is this. CUTE HEELS WILL ALWAYS BE IN STYLE.
Frankly I don’t think its fair that all my short friends can wear the most adorable four inch heels and I get scorned upon by wearing them just because I’m tall.
Some outfits just look better with heels, Sey.
And yes, height is the first thing I look for in a guy. He should be the same height as, if not taller than, me in heels.

there is a one word answer to this: SEXY. heels are sexy, girls want to be sexy, guys want sexy girls. most guys i know agree that a tall girl thats lookin classy in a nice pair of heels is very attractive. i agree with stace, stupid post!!! and MI APA IS DELICIOUS!
Why do dwarfy girls wear flats? It’s ridiculous. They should wear 4-5 inch heels to compensate for their dorky shortness.

I agree. Even if you are tall enough, indeed why not to tower even more and not have even longer looking legs? Nothing wrong about it. Now my practical reasoning is all in your favour. You have already slender sleek and very long legs, heels elongate them even more and make yourself even taller. But are they comfortable? No. So you are able to wear kitten heels, walking in comfort and remaining slender, tall, and leggy. Are those few more inch worth the discomfort? What appear sexy about pumps are not the heels but the leg slendering effect, this effect though, is nothing near having naturally slender, sleek and long legs, where high heels just make the legs *look* like this. Your heels height will look unnoticed or redundant. What’s more, about for fashion what make a heel stylish is not the heel height but their overall design. You are dropping the privilege of wearing comfortable but stylish kitten heels, having already what a heel is going to give you, for a little redundant extra height and slendering effect but real discomfort.

Did you know that all top models are 5″7+?!Did you ever notice that almost all famous and beautiful women such as Cameron Diaz, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Naomi, and so are tall and THEY WEAR HEELS?

Just think of models. The shortest models are in the 5’7/5’8 range. I myself model and heels are an everyday thing for me. I’m 5’8 and I’m proud of my height…even in heels. In the city, nobody cares what your height is; everybody is different and everybody has their own sense of fashion. My boyfriend is 6’4 so I never have to worry about being taller than he is. And I’ve heard from plenty of guys that tall girls wearing heels is sexy because it shows confidence and brings out our posture and legs. Nobody should feel insecure about wearing heels. Whenever someone makes a comment telling taller girls they shouldn’t wear heels it shows their insecurity of being short.
If I may answer this question, here’s what I think. I’m a guy. At 6’5″, I’ve never met a girl taller than me, with heels or not. So I say tall girls can wear anything they want! I prefer a girl in sexy heels to flats any day. As I said I’m 6’5″ so even if you take a 5’10″ girl and throw 5″ heels on her she”ll still be shorter than me. I like my girls as tall as possible so the more height the better in my opinion! The less I have to bend down lol. Tall girls are where it’s at. Flats are ugly. B^D
